About Me

My name is Eric Holden. I am an Atlanta based freelance graphic and web designer. It could be said that I am stubborn to a fault. After sucessfully acquiring a double bachelors of science at Georgia State University, I soon learned art to be my primary love and interest rather than science, despite the fact I had never before worked in an artistic field. Undaunted, I began to experiment with web design, creative writing and photography until it was suggested I return to school for some sort of design field. Thus emboldened, I reappeared for a dose of graphic design at the Art Institute of Atlanta and graduated with flying colors.

The rest, they say, is history.

My main focus is designing websites, print material, logos, and digital composites. I have worked in many fields over the years, and consider my time spent along that meandering path as a continual learning experience.

About My Work

I am, and have always been, a storyteller. To this end, I believe any type of visual design is really about telling a story to the viewer, and it is up to the designer in question to accurately portray this to its fullest effect. Self expression comes into play with regards to a particular style or genre, and should accurately fit along with a client’s agenda for maximum effect.

Design is also about change, and I feel the designer that does not experiment with media and different methods of thinking about a problem limits their design skills and overall, their work. Will this make your work clash or seem unusual on occasion? Absolutely. Could it potentially shock or frighten away potential clients? Quite possibly. Yet to stagnate is to give in to an easy road that ends a career rather shortly. Better still to travel a road fraught with possiblity and creative potential, even if it is a bit bumpy…

About This Site

This site is currently a wonderous hodge-podge of flash, javascript, php and good old-fashioned elbow grease. The old site is still available on the web design page, sculpted in flash for all to see. In an attempt to better organize my work, I decided a content management system was the best bet for the site’s newest incarnation, and selected WordPress after trying out several (after all, we’re not reinventing the wheel here, just putting spinners on it).

For those playing the home game, I’ve added the following plugins for added flavor: Breadcrumb , Lightbox (a Javascript image viewing program), WP Database Backup, and WP Contact Form. The CSS and php layout have naturally been tinkered with significantly as well.
